O novo registo dos Cradel of Filth - "Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder", estárá à venda a partir do próximo dia 28 de Outubro.
Este álbum é baseado na história verdadeira e bem documentada do nobre francês Gilles de Rais, que foi um dos irmãos de armas de Joana D'Arc. Ele era mais conhecido como serial killer profílico, onde misturava orações com as suas mortes nocturnas, bem como a aspiração de ser alquimista.
Foi acusado de uma panóplia de crimes, entre eles heresia, demonologia e rapto. Existe mesmo um conjunto de historiadores que questionam o estatuto verdadeiro de Rais, estando alguns convencidos que ele foi traído.

Deixando de parte este ponto de vista, os Cradel of Filth dissecaram a biografia de Rais, exploraram subversivamente este assunto histórico nos seus poemas líricos, olhando para uma figura controversa na história europeia, ajustando-a à música épica do Black Metal.

O vocalista Dani Filth explica o conceito do álbum, dizendo: "By far this is our most extreme, dramatic and deeply disturbing album to date. The legend of Gilles de Rais has been given fresh, vampyrical life in this conceptual meisterwerk, swathed in pitch-black magic and a viciousness unsurpassed in the annals of Cradle history. Screw what our detractors say, everyone who has heard this album has bruised their jaws on the pentagram-bejewelled floor."
